How Your Dentist Can Help You Get A Brilliant Smile

Submitted by: Dr. Joseph Marcius

Part of a brilliant smile is having healthy teeth. Your dentist can help you get a brilliant smile by ensuring your teeth are as healthy as possible. They do this by scheduling regular visits. At these semi-annual visits they should clean your teeth, scrap off plaque, tartar build up, etc. They should also check your mouth for gum disease and tooth decay. If these problems exist, they should get you on a treatment plan. Simply having cavity free teeth without gum disease can help you to have a more brilliant smile.

A healthy smile is a brilliant smile!

Part of having a brilliant smile is having sparkling white teeth. Your dentist can help you get a brilliant smile by helping you get whiter teeth. Of course you can get whiter teeth without the help of a dentist, by visiting your local drugstore and purchasing an off the shelf teeth whitening system. However, dentist teeth whitening systems can mean 8 shades whiter as opposed to 2. Dentist teeth whitening systems use stronger bleaches, and are a faster, more effective method. A dentist can either help you whiten your teeth with trays which are made to fit your mouth, and then daily you put bleach in the tray and wear it for a specified amount of time. Granted you can get tray whitening at the drugstore, but the trays do not fit your teeth exactly which means less exact whitening, and more gum irritation. If you want faster teeth whitening, you can try dentist laser whitening. In this system, the dentist will paint your teeth with a special gel. Then a laser light will be shined on your teeth for an hour, or longer if your stains are deep. The light activated the gel and the reaction whitens your teeth.

A whiter smile is a brilliant smile!

Part of a brilliant smile is a full set of teeth that are whole, not chipped, misshapen etc. Your dentist can help you get a brilliant smile with cosmetic dentistry. Cosmetic dentistry is a method of dentistry that is for looks. There are many different types, from veneers, crowns, bonding, braces, etc. The point of this method of dentistry is to give you a better looking smile. So, you may want to get veneers to make your teeth look bigger, whiter, and to hide cracks, chips, etc. If you are missing teeth you may want to consider dental implants. These act as real teeth once healed, and most people can not even tell the difference. If you feel like your smile could use a little improvement, your dentist can fix virtually any problem and restore your teeth to a brilliant smile. There are very few problems that can t be corrected with a little cosmetic dentistry. Your dentist has the tools and resources to help you get a brilliant smile, so go in and talk to him or her today. Your dentist can discuss cosmetic dentistry options with you to improve your smile.

A cosmetically enhanced smile is a brilliant smile!

There are plenty of ways your dentist can help you get a brilliant smile. So, if you would like a better smile, call up your dentist today and schedule a consultation.

Wikinews interviews Jeremy Hanke, editor of MicroFilmmaker Magazine

Friday, April 11, 2008

Wikinews held an exclusive interview with Jeremy Hanke, editor of MicroFilmmaker Magazine. The magazine, which is free to read online, was started as a resource for the low budget moviemaker and features book, independent film, equipment and software reviews as well as articles on film distribution, special effects and lighting.

He says that one of the goals of the magazine is to “connect low-budget filmmakers via a feeling of community, as many…..often compete so viciously against one another in film festivals for coveted “shots” with Hollywood, that they can quickly forget their similarities.”

When asked if films made on a shoestring budget can really compete with those made for millions of dollars, he replied, “no…yes…and absolutely. Allow me to explain.” And so he does in the interview below.

Nick Hogan, son of wrestling star Hulk Hogan ‘seriously injured’ in vehicle accident

Monday, August 27, 2007

Nick Hogan, 17, the son of wrestling star Hulk Hogan has been “seriously injured” in a vehicle accident along with one other unnamed individual. Both are reported to have been flown via helicopter to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, Florida.

TMZ.com reports that police and witnesses say the accident occurred in Clearwater, Florida around 7:30 p.m. (eastern time) on Sunday night while Hogan was driving his Toyota Supra at a “very high rate of speed.” He lost control of his car and hit the center median, flipping which then slammed into a palm tree, resting on its back end.

The police said the two travelling in the car sustained “very very serious” injuries. They also said that the tree “destroyed the entire car”.

A police officer was not far behind the car when it flipped over and radioed in for help. Firefighters had to use the ‘jaws of life’ to cut Hogan and the other individual free from the wreckage.

No call was made to 911 and the occupants conditions are not yet known.

UEFA Euro 2016, semifinal: hosts France beat Germany 2-0

Saturday, July 9, 2016

On Thursday, World Champions Germany lost 2–0 to hosts France in the UEFA Euro 2016 semifinal. Antoine Griezmann scored both goals, netting six goals in the tournament. France is to play Portugal in the final tomorrow.

Germany had better ball possession and passing accuracy. But, moments before half time, captain Bastian Schweinsteiger was booked for a hand ball in the penalty area, and France were awarded a penalty kick. The Atlético striker Griezmann scored from the spotkick sending Maneul Neuer in the wrong direction. Les Blues were 1–0 up at half time.

In the second half, Jérôme Boateng was benched suffering from a ruptured muscle bundle. Later, Paul Pogba’s shot was half-cleared by Neuer, but Griezmann scored the second goal of the night and his sixth of the tournament.

Though Germany had far more completed passes — in the first half alone, more than the hosts in both halves combined — the World Champions were defeated. Griezmann was awarded the Man of the Match award.

Griezmann’s six goals in one Euro tournament is the most after Michel Platini’s record of nine goals in one tournament.

Lose Belly Fat Fast Your Ultimate Guide

Submitted by: C. Oon

If you are trying to lose belly fat fast, then this is the right article for you. The most important thing when wanting to lose belly fat fast is to always remember the two most important factors to keep in mind exercise and anti-stress strategies.

Exercise is a very important factor if you want to lose that belly fat quickly. What you should always keep in mind when exercising to lose belly fat is to include whole body exercises in your workout routine, not just those that target the belly. These exercises can include 30 minute aerobic sessions which can really get your heart rate up so you can burn more fat. When doing aerobic exercises, try doing them three to five times a week. Aside from aerobics, also try yoga or Pilates to build more muscles and increase your metabolism. When your metabolic rate rises, it will be much easier to burn those fats.

Another habit you will want to get used to is holding your stomach muscles in or contracting them whenever you can. This helps strengthen your abdominals and will result in a flatter stomach. Take time during the day so you can do some stretching exercises. During work, take small breaks so you can do back bending exercises which will help stretch your stomach muscles so that they do not become shortened. When sitting, sit up straight and continue to contract or pull your stomach muscles in. This also helps in strengthening your abdominal muscles to help develop a flatter stomach.

Aside from exercise, anti-stress strategies are also a very important factor to help lose belly fat fast. Our body produces a hormone called cortisol which is responsible for regulating the body s metabolism and blood pressure. If you have hit high stress levels in your life, your cortisol levels also go very high which will in turn keep your appetite stimulated and your glucose levels high. The excess glucose produced will eventually be turned into fat. This is why you will want to lower your cortisol levels by avoiding stress in your life so that you will not gain any more belly fat.

To neutralize your stress levels, try doing relaxation techniques. This is best done by getting enough sleep. Getting enough sleep will give you enough energy for the day so that you will not feel exhausted or tired during the rest of your work hours. Take breaks to de-stress. The advisable number of times to take a de-stressing break is once every 3 hours. During this break, you can take a 5 minute walk, or a short nap, or even do some yoga exercises. Yoga is a very helpful exercise to de-stress. Try also Pilates, Tai Chi, and Qigong which you can do for about three times a week. Other calming and relaxing techniques you can use is meditation and listening to calming guidance CDs. This can be done for about 10 to 15 minutes once or twice a day, once in the morning to set the tone for the rest of your day, and once in the afternoon or evening to calm and relax you after a tiring day at work.

Ireland requests replay of FIFA World Cup play-off with France

Ireland requests replay of FIFA World Cup play-off with France

Friday, November 20, 2009

The Football Association of Ireland (FAI), Irish Minister for Sport, Taoiseach and Facebook social network groups are requesting a replay of the controversial FIFA World Cup play-off between Ireland and France in the interests of Fair Play. The FAI lodged an appeal with FIFA and also contacted the French Football Federation (FFF), it appears FAI hopes FFF may agree that a replay is fair play. Both captians, Thierry Henry and Robbie Keane, have called for a replay.

The Irish supporters, who in the past have won the FIFA Fair Play Award, are angry after a blatant double handball by Thierry Henry enabled France to score the extra-time goal that cost Ireland entry to next year’s FIFA World Cup finals in South Africa. Most Irish anger has been directed at FIFA, although French captain Thierry Henry has admitted handling the ball.

FAI has argued that there is a strong precedent; in 2005 where FIFA invalidated the result of a FIFA World Cup qualification match between Uzbekistan and Bahrain on the basis of a technical error by the match referee. However, Law 5 of the Laws of the Game state that: “The decisions of the referee regarding facts connected with play, including whether or not a goal is scored and the result of the match, are final.” and a source at Fifa headquarters in Switzerland said that “there is no way the game can be replayed”. The generic concept of fair play is a fundamental part of the game of football and the Fair Play Campaign was conceived largely as an indirect result of the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico, when the handball goal by Diego Maradona.

The referee Martin Hansson and (referee’s assistants) Stefan Wittberg and Fredrik Nilsson were unable to see the incident but didn’t ask Thierry Henry if he handled the ball. Its hoped the mistake won’t cost the Swedish referee’s a place in South Africa. FIFA’s Fair play policy is playing by the rules, using common sense and respecting fellow players, referees, opponents and fans. The French union representing the nation’s gym teachers declared outrage at what it called “indisputable cheating.”

Minister for Sport Martin Cullen wrote to FIFA president Sepp Blatter urging him to call a rematch in the interests of fair play. Taoiseach Brian Cowen raised the issue with French president Nicolas Sarkozy on the fringes of last night’s EU summit. French Prime minister François Fillon said “neither the French government nor the Irish Government should interfere in the functioning of the international federation”.

Well Recorded Electric Guitar}

Submitted by: Karl Turka

Well recorded electric guitar part 2

In the first part of this article, we have been looking at the traditional method of electric guitar recording sound registration with the microphone cooperating with the amplifier. Ill be always recommending is firstly because there is no better way. However, I know that sometimes its simply impossible to make a registration in this way (conditions of accommodation, weak equipment). Then we have to plug in an instrument on instrumental input on interface (or via DI Box) or using hardware amplifier simulations and then put it on interface line-input.

Id like to mention that even if you have got real amplifier, its worth to make a registration of clear, direct signal because it will be needed in the next phase. If you wouldnt be satisfied, there will always be an additional copy of a part registered without any character given. Then it will be easy to choose good sound and use plugs or Re-amping method. Despite the fact that in a phase of edition the clear part would show waveform and then it will facilitate an alignment of a track terms of time. You just need to group both tracks (from amplifier and a direct one) and edit taking as a reference the direct part. As we know, there is some problems with the part from amplifier (sometimes it is compressed or changed in a different way and it hinders to recognize accents. No one said that we have to listen to this humdrum DI signal, but it will be an excellent reference to edition.

How to record a direct signal and a signal from amplifier at once?

Ive already mentioned DI Box. This appliance has usually one instrumental input (with a very high impedance), which is adapted to get the signal from a guitar (or bass). Inside the box, the signal is divided into two outputs for the connection with an amplifier (called Through and realized through TS jack), the second is symmetric and it is dedicated to take a signal to the interface (or mixer), which is looking for a signal with low impedance. Then you have to attach a microphone to an amplifier and take the signal to the interface. This is the way to register at once the part which is theoretically the same, but in fact is sounds differently on two separated tracks.

During this process, you have to remember that time of signal will be different the signal from a microphone will be delayed relative to the direct signal (its way is longer). Those differences should be inconsiderable, but it is possible that after the summing you will get an unwanted phasing effect or deviations of some periodicities (it depends on microphone techniques and other factors). Then you will have to move the track from microphone manually on the timeline.

If you dont have DI Box (ex. I dont have one), you can record a direct signal firstly and then let it out by one of additional outputs of the interface (supposing you have got more than two main outputs) and then connect them with an amplifier, setup an expected sound and plug a microphone to the result of all operation. Re-Amp Box would be needed for this operation (it works exactly in the opposite way to DI Box and changes a symmetric signal to asymmetric one with a high impedance which is wanted in the input of an amplifier). Nevertheless, it isnt necessary, it is possible to bypass this element you wont lose very much if you do it without the Box.

Have we got more possibilities?

If you dispose lots of effect, amplifiers simulations etc, then (depending on the model) it is possible to register more than one signal. Line 6 POD X3 Live or Eleven Rack have outputs at the same time for a signal processed and a clear, direct signal from a guitar. If we get a satisfactory sound from this appliance, its worth to put the direct signal in our DAW for future edition. If youre not the best guitar player, like me, it would be very helpful.

I also have another conclusion. My dedicated, external one-channel microphone preamplifier has two (rightly three) outputs, the signal from both is very fluent and thats why I can use it as DI Box. I can do re-amping without any problems (the second output has two options: symmetric and asymmetric – two different plugs), and I can send the signal directly to line input (symmetric) in the interface. Its really good.

Lately, there are new appliances available guitar amplifier simulations in the form of bars (stomp type). These are fully analog devices which unite the way of input from an amplifiers and the line output of the interface (like in POD). Thats why we can register processed signal from amplifiers simulations without using a microphone and annoying the environment. Ive bought Tech 21 Character Series British some tie ago and now I consider an expansion of the variety of sound by some new variants.

Were going back again to the keynote of this article and were going to look how to create a sound from the clear DI signal. Lets abandon the sound of an amplifier which was discussed in the previous article.

Plug-ins simulating guitar amplifiers

There is a lot of available plug-ins in this type. It is possible to find some really good simulations, which are paid, but there is still something for free for unprofessional users. I recommend to follow the websites like KVRAudio, where we can find information about those products. This site is a great source of information about different VTS products, also the free ones.

The commercial options:

1. IK Multimedia Amplitube 3

2. Native Instruments Guitar Rig

3. Peavey ReValver MK III

4. Waves GTR3 / GTR Solo

5. McDSP Chrome Tone

6. SansAmp

7. Line 6 Pod Farm

8. Mellowmuse MellowHead

9. Softube Vintage Amp Room / Metal Amp Room

10. Overloud Th 2

11. Studio Devil Virtual Guitar Amp

12. Universal Audio Nigel

And much more! It is worth to download DEMO versions of this product and try them on your own, before any investments. Dont forget that in some workstations include amplifiers simulations which may be sufficient to meet basic needs. Personally, I like to use Eleven included in Pro Tools for free in cutted version Ive expanded it to full version and I dont regret.

To create an interesting sound it is needed to manipulate in some plug-ins. Every plug-in will have saved presets, like a start point, but the real fun starts in the moment of interference in the setting. For example Amplitube 3 gives an possibility of pairing different amplifiers and types of microphones, manipulating voices from the accommodation, breaking signals on two tracks, connecting two different simulations and so on

For several hundred dollars we have an access to thousands combinations, unlimited possibilities and endless fun. I really recommend to try some settings, but I also have to warn you- there is a trap it such a big number of possibilities. You can never decide which sound is the best for you and you will always change something. I always try not to spend more than 10-20 minutes on searching the best sound and record processed signal on new track, then I deactivate original track with plug-in to save processor power and then move forward! In case of necessity to change something, I can still activate the track with inserted simulation, do all changes and record the new one. I always try to avoid it but having a possibility is very important.

Speakers responses

The thing becomes more interesting when we dispose impulses created for the convolution technique. Someone invented the way to register speakers response (Impulse Response) paired with particular amplifiers as a short audio files it gives the access to real simulations. The main idea is to put that type of audio file in plug supporting weaves (ex. like Convolution Reverb) and to get strengthened guitar signal. Due to the fact that some of plug-ins gives an opportunity of signal tooling in two phases, we can skip included speaker simulation and send strengthened signal straight to the chosen speaker. The results can be very convicting.

The last option mentioned is talking about different grounds, which also can surprise by the amount of combinations and sounds. If we will get a device, one again well have lots of hours of fun. Its worth to read the instruction to use all potential. Another advantage of this device is the possibility of using it on the stage firstly, they look great and make an impression, then we also have an access to lots of effect in one, big box.

The summary

Registration of a direct signal isnt very difficult. If you follow universal rules of setting the amplifier, you will get a good signal to edit. Creating the sound with plug-ins or another combinations isnt so clear everyone has to choose his own style. All the more, each guitar player needs to have his original sound and we can help him in some way, but the final decision is him

British chef Keith Floyd dies at age 65

Wednesday, September 16, 2009

British chef Keith Floyd has died at the age of 65 after a heart attack in Dorset, England.

Keith Floyd was best known for his cookery programmes, particularly on British television channel BBC, although he has also featured on shows on ITV. He was arguably most popular for his Floyd on series, with shows like Floyd on Food, Floyd on Spain, Floyd on Italy etc. He also presented Floyd on GMTV in 1998. Keith had been presenting programmes from 1984 to 2001.

On July 29, it was reported that Floyd had been diagnosed with bowel cancer in June. After undergoing five serious operations, 90% of the cancer was removed. He later had chemotherapy. He died on Monday of a heart attack in his partner’s house in Dorset, England.

Famous chefs around the world have been expressing their sadness for his death and made comments about him to British newspaper, The Guardian. Among them was Rick Stein, who said, “I first met Keith in the early 80s. He used to come to the restaurant regularly and knew Padstow well because his first wife came from Port Isaac. At a time when I was experimenting with Provençal dishes like Bouillabaisse and Bourride he was a Gauloise-smoking, red wine drinking hero who had actually owned a restaurant next to the Mediterranean. One thing was certain — he cooked like a dream and loved food and wine with a passion.”

Other cooks such as Michel Roux, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Heston Blumenthal expressed condolences. Gordon Ramsay stated, “Keith Floyd was a true original. A natural performer and a superb cook, he broke new ground with his programmes and his contribution to television cookery was immense.”

Marco Pierre White stated that, “A little piece of Britain died yesterday which will never be replaced. He was an individual, he was a maverick, he was mercurial, he was magical, he was special, he was rare.”

Keith Floyd died on September 14, the same day a documentary was broadcast on Channel 4 called Keith Meets Keith, which featured comedian Keith Allen interviewing Keith Floyd. It emerged that his death was just a few hours beforehand, however the information was unknown at the time of broadcast.

Celia Martin, who was staying with Floyd at the time of his death, gave an interview with London local newspaper Evening Standard.

“When we got home he had a siesta and got up feeling a bit headachy. We had both eaten a lot so I put it down to that. He laid down on the sofa and I thought he went to sleep. Then suddenly his breathing became erratic,” Martin said. “I phoned for an ambulance and the operator gave me instructions on how to help him. He didn’t say anything at all. The ambulance people were here for about an hour. They thought there was a chance they could save him. It was so bizarre, we were sitting down to watch the documentary at 10pm but by that time he had died.”

Spelbound declared winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2010

Monday, June 7, 2010

An acrobatic group known by the name of Spelbound has been declared as the winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2010, a televised variety talent show competition broadcast on ITV in the United Kingdom. As the winning act of the show, Spelbound have won £100,000 (US$144,580, €120,313, A$175,079) and a place at The Royal Variety Performance, an annual gala evening that is attended by senior members of the British Royal Family.

In no particular order, the top three acts were revealed to be two dancers known by their stage name of Twist and Pulse, gymnastic group Spelbound and Kieran Gaffney, whose act involves playing on the drum kit. After Kieran Gaffney was revealed to be in third place, Anthony McPartlin, who hosts Britain’s Got Talent with Declan Donnelly, said to Kieran: “Well done Kieran. Kieran, you’re a star, you came back, you got all the way to the final. I know you’ve loved this. You’ve loved this, haven’t you?” In response to this, Kieran Gaffney stated: “Thank you very much. Thank you, everyone for supporting me. Thank you.”

Shortly afterwards, on the episode that was broadcast live on ITV1 on Saturday, Anthony announced: “After tens of thousands of auditons, five semi-finals and an amazing final, this…this is it. One of you is about to walk away with £100,000 and a place at this year’s Royal Variety Performance. The winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2010 is…Spelbound!” Glen Murphy from Twist and Pulse commented about finishing in second place, stating: “Yeah, it’s amazing. I can’t even believe it. I can’t believe it at all.”

Alex Uttley, a 24-year-old member of Spelbound, commented on the gymnastic group’s victory, commenting: “Oh, my god. This is unbelieveable. We just want to say thank you to everyone out there. It just shows that all our hard work has paid off.” One of the coaches of Spelbound, named Neil Griffiths, stated about Spelbound: “Oh, they’ve worked so hard over the last few weeks. Um, since the semi-final, we…we really had to pull out the stops to try and up the game. They’ve not known they’ve worked in the gym from six in the morning till twelve…twelve o’clock of the night. I couldn’t have asked for more. Um, it’s a team of coaches. I don’t take all the credit myself. There’s, uh, two people up there that know who they are who’ve been fantastic.”

Spelbound consists of 24-year-old Alex Uttley, Nicholas Illingworth, aged 24, Adam Buckingham, aged 21, 20-year-old Adam McAssey, 19-year-old Douglas Fordyce, 18-year-old Edward Upcott, 18-year-old Leighanne Cowler, 17-year-old Katie Axten, 17-year-old Lauren Kemp, 15-year-old Jonathan Stranks, Abigail Ralph, aged 15, 13-year-old Hollianne Wood and Amy Mackenzie, aged 12. Bookmakers had previously predicted that Spelbound would be the most likely act to become the winner of the series.

The running order for the final started with Twist and Pulse. The second act to perform was Liam McNally, a 14-year-old singer. The running order subsequently continued with 40-year-old impressionist Paul Burling, singer Christopher Stone, aged 28, Tina & Chandi, a woman and dog dancing act, Connected, a five-piece singing group, Kieran Gaffney, aged 12, 22-year-old Tobias Mead, a dancer, 80-year-old singer Janey Cutler and Spelbound in that particular order.

Earlier on in the final, Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden has stated to Spelbound: “We are hosting the 2012 Olympics and I think ‘what a brilliant opening act’.” Fellow judge Piers Morgan also commented that “[t]he purpose of this show is to identify hidden great British talent. You are that act.” After Spelbound won in the final, another judge, named Simon Cowell, stated that “the right boys and girls won on the night” and that he could “only say on live TV that that was one of the most astonishing things I have ever seen. Seriously.”
