The Importance of water in the Battle to Lose Weight

People with extra weight from all around the world try several diets ,but without the desirable results. They could eat healthy, do some exercise but still cannot manage to get rid of that excess body fat. Few people get to realise how important the water is to the success of their weight loss program.Few people get to realise how important the water is to the success of their weight loss program.

Yes, water is the number one most important thing to address when it comes to losing weight, the human body is 60% made of water.Without adequate water your body cannot function properly, you can go longer without eating than without drinking.Water is a natural suppressant:when you do not drink enough, the signal of thirst can be mistaken for the signal of hunger.By drinking enough, you will make sure not to happen this.Water makes your metabolism burn calories 3% faster:the process of burning calories needs a sufficient supply of water to work efficiently, dehydration slows down the fat burning process, burning calories creates toxins, and water can help to flush them out of your body.Drinking an insufficient amount of water every day is the best treatment for fluid retention also known as water weight. Water weight happens when you don’t drink enough water, your body stores the water it does get; when you first start drinking more water, the weight you lose will be mostly water weight. At the beginning, you’ll make more trips to the bathroom, but nothing is to worry, by day 3 or 4 the number of bathroom visits will go back to normal. Also do not forget that water contains 0 calories,so you feel fuller without calories! But how much water is enough? For an average person i would say minimum two litres a day is enough, but you need to consider also other factors that can increase this intake such as:climate temperature(in the summer, in hot countries or during exercise you sweat more),being overweight(more calories, more toxins to flush out),eating salty foods, diuretic drinks(soda, coffee, tea and alcohol). One easy way to know the right amount to drink is from the color of your urine,if its pale yellow you should be fine, though vitamin supplements and antibiotics can discolor it.There are some useful tricks you might use, to get your needed amount of water every day; one of them is using a water tracker, a device that helps you keep track of our water consumption. Another way to supply the needed amount of water every day is to eat food rich in water. Fresh fruits and vegetables, mostly juicy ones provide fluid for your daily diet and the minimum amount of water. Use a water tracker. Some carry a 64-ounce container of water and drink throughout the day, with the goal of drinking all the water before they go to bed. Others who spend time away from home may take a portable 16-ounce container, knowing that they need to fill and drink it four times throughout the day.

But enough with the talking, just go right now ,and grab a glass of water!!For more free tips about weight loss, and an ideal weight loss solution, visit this website: http://www.youandweightloss.com

Wikinews interviews Sandra Jephcott, Sustainable Australia candidate for 2020 Groom by-election

Friday, November 27, 2020

Voters in the Australian electoral district of Groom are scheduled to go to the polls in a by-election this week following the resignation of Liberal National MP John McVeigh for family reasons.

Groom is located in the state of Queensland, and is centred around the city of Toowoomba. At the last federal election, the Liberal National Party, Queensland’s dominant conservative party, won this seat by over 70% of the two-party-preferred vote, and since the seat’s creation in 1984, it has been held by conservative political parties.

Some political analysts considered this a foregone conclusion, with analyst Kevin Bonham having declared it on his blog as “Australia’s most boring by-election”, however Bonham noted the size of the swing may have been indicative of the dominant centre left Labor Party’s general performance in Queensland. There was a 4.2% swing against the Labor Party in the state of Queensland at the previous federal election.

Wikinews spoke to one of the four candidates running in the by-election, Sandra Jephcott, who is running for the Sustainable Australia party. Sustainable Australia describes itself as a “independent community movement from the political centre”. According to the party’s website, Jephcott is a veterinarian and farmer, who has completed a veterinary degree from the University of Queensland, as well as a Master of Business Affairs at Bond University and a Master of Science at James Cook University. With Wikinews, Jephcott discussed climate change, COVID-19, water security, and foreign ownership.

5 Tips To Stop The Urge To Gamble When You Have An Addiction To Gambling

By Michelle S. Tee

When you have an urge to gamble and you are suffering from an addiction to gambling sometimes the urge can hit quite hard, and you may not know what to do. There are different things that you can do to stop yourself in your tracks rather than return to gambling and continue that downward spiral into despair.

If you have a gambling addiction or a severe gambling problem, you are most certainly not alone. Gambling problems are pervasive throughout the world as a result of easy access to casinos, online gambling, and other gambling establishments.

Sometimes when the urge to gamble hits, you may have been asked by friends or family to go and gamble because it has become such a popular pastime.

For some gambling is recreational, but when you have an addiction to gambling or serious gambling problem, this addiction can ruin your life, and the lives of your loved ones.

Here are 5 tips to stop the urge to gamble when you have a severe gambling problem and want to stop yourself from returning to gambling.

1.Call a trusted friend or family member who knows about your problem. Tell them that you are having the urge to go back and gamble and you are really just looking for a little support so that you do not go and place that bet.

2.Find out about your nearest Gamblers Anonymous Meeting, also known as G.A. Attend that meeting, and if none are going on that day, you can easily find an A.A meeting that will provide the support that you need on that given day. Just look for an open meeting and you will be welcomed with open arms. This will put you in an environment of recovery, and you will have less of an urge to gamble.

3.Go shopping or to the bookstore. Browse through the books and get a hot cup of coffee or tea. If you go to the mall, treat yourself to something nice, especially because you made a good decision for yourself by not going out and gambling. When you beat the urge to gamble, rewarding yourself is a good thing, and you will really feel good when you do this.

4.Put on your gym clothes or some walking shoes. Go for a very long walk or run, or visit your local gym and get a good workout. Exercise changes your brain chemistry in a positive way by releasing certain chemicals called endorphins. These brain chemicals alone can stop you from gambling and seeking out that adrenaline high.

5.Make plans with a friend to go for dinner or even just have a cup of coffee together. A lot of times you may be triggered to gamble out of loneliness. You want to make sure that if loneliness is a trigger to gamble, that you get into the company of people so that you do not go out and place that bet.

It is hoped that these 5 tips were helpful to stop you from gambling if you have an addiction to gambling and a strong urge to gamble.

Remember that gambling can destroy your life in many ways, and that returning to gambling can have many negative consequences in your life.

Remember you are worth saving yourself from this dreaded addiction, and that life is truly better when you stop gambling.

Zimbabwe projects 15% average growth over next five years

Tuesday, November 10, 2009

Economic Development Minister Elton Mangoma of Zimbabwe today unveiled a mid-range plan to relaunch and transform the Zimbabwean economy over the next five years, envisioning a 15% average rate of growth.

Mangoma told reporters in the capital of Harare that he looked for 12.5% growth in gross domestic product in 2010 over the nearer term, after a projected 3.7% expansion this year.

Mangoma said the country would not reintroduce the Zimbabwean dollar over the period but would stick with the multi-hard currency regimen adopted by the country’s national unity government with transactions primarily in the US dollar and South African rand.

He called for a market-driven economy, but said the country would review mining agreements where resources were not being tapped or where royalties had been set too low. He noted that mining operations should deliver clear benefits to surrounding communities.

“During the period [till 2015], the economy is expected to grow by an average growth rate of 15 percent from a level of 3.7 percent in 2009. This will be achieved through the restoration of productive capacity and creation of new capacities, aggressive infrastructure rehabilitation and development,” he said.

Zimbabwe’s economy has been largely devastated after political upheaval in 2000, and extreme hyperinflation several months ago. The unity government formed earlier this year, however, has sparked some hope that the economy can rebound.

WHO’s reaction to H1N1 influenced by drug companies, reports claim

WHO’s reaction to H1N1 influenced by drug companies, reports claim

Sunday, June 6, 2010

Reports suggest the World Health Organisation’s declaring a swine flu pandemic was an error driven by drug companies, and lead to unjustified fear. A year after the swine flu pandemic was declared, stocks are left unused and governments try to abandon contracts, pharmaceutical companies have profited at least £4.6billion from the sale of vaccines alone.

Reports by the British Medical Journal (BMJ), the Bureau of Investigative Journalism (BIJ) and the Council of Europe claim that The World Health Organisation reaction to H1N1 was influenced by pharmaceutical companies and that key scientists behind advice had financial ties with firms Roche and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). These conflicts of interest have never been publicly disclosed by WHO, an apparent violation of its own rules.

The World Health Organisation issued H1N1 guidelines in 2004, recommending countries to stockpile millions of doses of antiviral medication. The advice prompted many countries around the world into buying up large stocks of Tamiflu, made by Roche, and Relenza manufactured by GSK.

A joint investigation with the BMJ and the BIJ, found that scientists involved in developing the WHO 2004 guidance had previously been paid by Roche or GSK for lecturing and consultancy work as well as being involved in research for the companies. “The WHO’s credibility has been badly damaged,” BMJ editor Fiona Godlee said in an editorial.

A report by the health committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, a 47-member human rights watchdog, found that the WHO’s reaction was influenced by drug companies that make H1N1 antiviral drugs and vaccines. It criticised WHO lack of transparency around the handling of the swine flu pandemic and says the public health guidelines by WHO, EU agencies and national governments led to a “waste of large sums of public money and unjustified scares and fears about the health risks faced by the European public.”

We’re still in the pandemic

A spokesman for WHO said the drug industry did not influence its decisions on swine flu. Margaret Chan, the organisation’s director, had dismissed inquiries into its handling of the A/H1N1 pandemic as “conspiracy theories” earlier this year, she had said: “WHO anticipated close scrutiny of its decisions, but we did not anticipate that we would be accused, by some European politicians, of having declared a fake pandemic on the advice of experts with ties to the pharmaceutical industry and something personal to gain from increased industry profits.”

Yesterday, a 16-member “emergency committee” consisting of advisors from the World Health Organisation said that the H1N1 pandemic is not yet over. The WHO has refused to identify committee members, arguing that they must be shielded from industry pressure, so possible conflicts of interest with drug companies are unknown. The BMJ report also reveals that at least one expert on the “emergency committee” received payment during 2009 from GSK.

In related news, Reuters reported, Pfizer Inc, the world’s biggest drugmaker, is selling its swine vaccine business to Chinese Harbin Pharmaceutical Group for $50 million.

French Prime Minister announces suspension of all flights to, from Brazil over coronavirus variant concerns

Tuesday, April 13, 2021

Today, in the French National Assembly, Prime Minister Jean Castex announced all flights to and from Brazil are to be suspended for concerns of Lineage P.1, a contagious variant of the COVID-19 virus which reportedly originated in Brazil.

Castex’s announcement was met with “scattered applause”, according to the Associated Press (AP). In his announcement, Castex said, “the situation is getting worse and so we have decided to suspend all flights between Brazil and France until further notice”. While a report from RT TV said the data from March 16 indicates Lineage P.1 represents 0.5% of all COVID-19 cases in France. Opposition politicians have urged the French government to take preventative measures. Member of the Socialist Party Boris Vallaud said this suspension was “necessary and a very good decision”.

Lineage P.1 spreads faster between young people, according to the observations made by the Brazilian health institute Oswaldo Cruz Foundation. The Foundation also said cases in Brazilians in 30s, 40s and 50s increased 565, 626 and 525% respectively, since the beginning of January, and an increase in the overall population of 316%. It is also more transmissible by as much as 2.2 times, and 25–61% more able to reinfect those infected with another strain earlier. According to RT TV, the Brazilian variant has two distinct mutations: N501Y, which increases transmissibility and E484K, which reduces vaccine efficacy and natural immunity from past infection of another strain.

France is currently in its third wave of coronavirus infections, with a report from AP stating over 99 thousand COVID-19 related deaths and The Brussels Times reporting over 5900 treated in intensive care units as of yesterday, the most since seen in mid-April last year. The report also stated this figure is likely to rise. There have been 41-60 thousand positive tests of the coronavirus over Easter weekend. AP said there are at least 5.1 million cases in France in total, the highest in Europe. Seven per cent of the population has been fully inoculated against COVID-19, and 21% have received the first dose, The Brussels Times reported. “Restrictive measures”, including on travel, movement and in-school education has been imposed nationwide since April 3, and a curfew of 7 pm–6 am is under effect in metropolitan France.

Though the variants originating in Brazil and South Africa account for under four per cent of infections in France, the variant Lineage B.1.1.7, which originated in the United Kingdom accounts for around 80% of the infections, Minister of Solidarity and Health Olivier Véran said. Véran said, “we are seeing a retreat of these variants because they are less contagious than the English one”.

‘Each makes the other more difficult to recover from’: University of Sussex professor L. Alan Winters speaks to Wikinews on trade, COVID-19, Brexit

Wednesday, June 30, 2021

Earlier this month, Wikinews spoke with University of Sussex professor of economics L. Alan Winters regarding the decision of the United Kingdom to leave the European Union (EU) in the 2016 Brexit referendum and the subsequent negotiations leading up to and following the EU–UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement of December, which he has researched extensively. In a call, a Wikinews correspondent spoke with Professor Winters about recent developments in UK trade policy to learn more about his observations.

Winters is professor of economics at the University of Sussex, as well as founding director and fellow of the UK Trade Policy Observatory (UKTPO). His career spans over 15 years, including as chief economist at the Department for International Development, director of the Development Research Group of the World Bank, CEO of the Migrating Out of Poverty Research Programme Consortium and advisor for the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the Commonwealth Secretariat, the European Commission, the European Parliament, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, the World Trade Organization and the Inter-American Development Bank.

Three reports where Winters is listed as an author were used as reference during the interview: “COVID-19 will reinforce the Brexit shock”, “The Costs of Brexit” and “Taking stock of the new UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement: governance, state subsidies and the level playing field”.

Winters was awarded the title “Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath”, styled C.B., on June 16, 2012 as part of the 2012 Birthday Honours.

Freighter hits fishing boat in Gulf of Suez; thirteen dead

Tuesday, December 16, 2014

A freighter hit a fishing boat around midnight on Sunday morning in the Gulf of Suez in the Red Sea. Of the 40 Egyptian fisherman on board, thirteen are dead and thirteen more missing.

Survivor Al Sayyed Mohamed Arafat told local media he jumped from the fishing boat, named Badr al-Islam, as the container ship approached. He says he hung onto a wooden crate for four hours before rescue. Local authorities have promised compensation to each survivor.

A vessel, flagged in Panama, suspected to be involved in the collision has been detained by the military. The army said yesterday one victim raised the alarm by phone and the military sent four boats and a helicopter to commence search and rescue off the Gabal al-Zayt coastline.

A plane has since joined the search. The military say the fishing boat lacked safety equipment for emergency communications.

The detained ship was found south of the Gulf, near the port of Safaga. It was carrying 220 tonnes of cargo according to the General Authority for the Red Sea Ports.

How Gis Data Can Prevent A Weather Disaster

By Grayson McElfrey

Effective and up to date data management is rarely so important as when it pertains to the weather. It’s no secret that extreme weather can be devastating to buildings, landscape and the lives of people and animals. Weather forecasters use all of the technology and tools available to them to try and detect serious weather patterns before they happen. Letting the public know about extreme weather before it happens is the key to avoiding large-scale disasters and loss of human lives.

GIS data or spatial data is one element of weather data management that can help to prevent a weather disaster by keeping everyone informed about what is happening and what is going to happen. GIS is an acronym for ‘geographic information system’ and it is a relatively new form of technology that produces detailed maps and information based on geography. GIS data or spatial data may take the form of aerial maps, postal code maps or other data that includes geographic elements.

Most weather disasters occur when an unsuspecting public is just going on about their business, and out of nowhere severe weather strikes. The severe weather may be a tornado, a blizzard, a hurricane, or an earthquake that triggers a tsunami in coastal regions. By using tools like geocoding software to produce GIS data as part of a greater data management system, the people living in the path of this type of weather can be given a proverbial ‘heads up’ before the weather is upon them.

When GIS data is used to inform the public of imminent weather danger, it gives people time to get out of harm’s way. Often, in severe weather where wind is involved, injuries and death occur from flying debris. When GIS data is used as part of the data management program, more people can be evacuated, which dramatically cuts down on the personal injury or death caused by flying cars, trucks, wood, metal and other debris. Spatial data used in the wintertime will help municipalities dispatch snow removal crews with greater accuracy and where they are needed most. This type of data management will reduce car accidents caused by severe weather, which will also save lives and prevent injury.

In essence, it all has to do with the timely sharing of information. Since so much of weather catastrophe centers around people being in the wrong place at the wrong time, GIS data and accurate data management help people get in the right place by the time danger shows up. It also helps direct the crews and teams designed to make the situation easier, where they should go to be of the most use.

Effective data management as created by geocoding software and other GIS data tools means that fewer people will be caught off-guard, and more people can live in high-risk zones without having to worry about severe weather. GIS data and spatial data aren’t foolproof for weather, but it will reduce the likelihood of injury and unnecessary death when the weather lashes out.
