This temporary home was deemed necessary so that no one had to pass up the opportunity to see the wonderful art collection that has been assembled by the gallery. The people of Port Macquarie are justifiably proud of their art gallery, as well they should be. All visitors to this area should take a morning or an afternoon and spend some time surrounded by the beauty and symmetry of the world of art.

Patrons of the arts in Port Macquarie know that gallery collections are not limited to paintings and drawings. Port Macquarie Regional is a leader in bringing other art forms to the vanguard of the public eye. Basket weaving using natural plant fibres, the use of recycled materials to create statuary, screen-printing, metallic pencil, Basalt, linoleum relief prints, clay, glass beads and semi precious gems, wood and iron, mixed media, Perspex, textiles, watercolor, oils, acrylics, pastels, shells and aluminum, plus more. All of these mediums have been used by talented artists and are or have been on display at Port Macquarie Regional Gallery. As you can see, the assortment is plentiful and diverse, and does a great deal to play a part in the abundant cultural life of Port Macquarie and the Hastings district that surrounds the city.

The Gallery obtains its art collection from local, countrywide, and worldwide sources. Ceramics in various forms, watercolors, sculpture, graffiti, and screen-printing have all been on exhibit at Port Macquarie. Visitors to the Port Macquarie Regional Gallery will find that it takes at least two to three hours to carefully browse the works included on display. Since there is such a variety of different styles and artists, it sometimes helps to plan your visit by using a map of the gallery, which is available at the front desk. The Gallery is closed on Mondays. It is open on Tuesdays through Fridays from 10:00 AM until 4:00 AM. It is also open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM.
